I was busy last night, but managed to find the time to post up a couple new families. Both in the pentadactyl order. One is the eared (or "paddle-finned") sea monkeys, and the other is the apes. I changed the apes from scaly apes to simply Metazoic apes. Having seen some programs about what is possible in evolution, scaly apes just seemed so useless. So I changed them to simply apes. Though traction scales on the feet of Phobocebus was not too bad an idea. But then it'd lose a lot of it's character. Might do more harm than good to the animal. The eared sea monkeys have remained the same as they always were though. I even updated their info. Before I noticed I said the Metazoic apes were descended from modern gibbons. While that would be a good idea, I thought it'd be better to have the apes start from scratch in the Metazoic. The apes of the Metazoic do not have very human-like characteristics, and kept their tails. Because they are attracted sexually to each other's faces, not their rears. Though the species in the sub-family Monaciinae are still tailless. The opposite goes for the "other half" of the family with the Urosimiinae. Apes of the future also never develop the swollen genitals because there is no need to. During the 'rut', males develop color in their faces to advertise their dominance, much like modern mandrills. When a female is ready to breed, her face also changes color from bright red to lavendar, depending on the species. Then the males take them up on the offer. The eared sea monkeys are the predecessors of the earless sea monkeys, and as you will notice they have large flippers, small ears and diamond-shaped tails. Unlike the streamlined earless sea monkeys. Eared sea monkeys are slower swimmers and rely more on stealth to capture prey. Some even take prey from the land. No modern apes. But Metazoic lemurs.
It does make a bit more sense to have Metazoic "apes" descended from baboons that perhaps secondarily lost their unusual rump features, and now only use the naked rump as a pad to sit upon, but hey, they're your "apes".
Well, distantly related to lemurs. I wanted to start over from scratch in the Metazoic.
You could start over from scratch with any of the cercopithecids. Except for the members of Papionini, those have those butts you don't like.
