Welcome to my Metazoic site! This site discusses the existence of the creatures to come along after humans will be extinct. I first became interested in a world after man when I acquired my first copy of Dougal Dixon's After Man: A Zoology of the Future in 1992. However, I unwittingly created creatures that did not exist from the time I was about 8 years old. But it was after I obtained a copy of that book (now a collector's item) that I decided to take these same creatures I created as a child and make them more realistic in an evolutionary sense. Though it may be hard for a lot of us to grasp, humans will soon become extinct. One of the biggest factors of how this will happen is the current overpopulation rate. Which is why I don't contribute to the population. I created this world with little more than mammals fulfilling all ecological niches with the help of some friends. I even gave the era of the age after man a name, I called it the Metazoic, derived from the words for "After-era" (Meta, meaning after, and zoic meaning era). We are now in the Cenozoic era. To view all the animals I have created since I began this project, you can go to the "Meet the Mammals" section of this site. To discuss your own ideas about what you think will happen in the future world, and share your ideas with others, please feel free to leave a comment.
One more thing, some of you may find this site quite offensive, and you have a right to your own opinion. But please respect my right to have an opinion too. I'm not saying there is no GOD, I believe it was HIM who got the ball rolling. But I believe after that, evolution took over. There is so much more evidence of evolution than there is of creation. Even that going on right under our noses. Other than that, enjoy yourself and visit our many links.

A Shameless Attempt At Advertising

Yes, this is an example of "doing exactly what it says on the tin". But this isn't for me, or Metazoica. In fact, its for a new exciting up-and-coming speculative evolution project that is due to hit the world full force in May. Zach Miller of When Pigs Fly and Will Baird of The Dragon's Tales are planning a new and exciting project; what might the world look like if the P-T extinction never happened. Now this is probably one of the hardest speculative evolution projects to do, the fauna and flora we have today is descended from the mere 10% of life that survived the end of the horrific P-T extinction, so one really has to bone up on their Permian knowledge before they take this project on (as in study the remaining 90%). Before the extinction, there were heavily armored pariasaurs, ferocious gorgonopsids, and numerous dicynodonts, just to name a few. No one has really attempted this project before, since it covers such huge spans of time and few have really taken the time to dig deep into the ecology of the Late Permian. But these two are trying, and from their results so far, it seems as thought they are doing excellent, and have this all planned out. So tune into When Pigs Fly and The Dragon's Tales in May to see more of this alt-Permian!

For those who cannot wait, Zach has a couple of short articles posted on his blog, here http://whenpigsfly-returns.blogspot.com/2009/04/further-studies-into-alt-permian.html concerning a derived gorgonopsid (barbouronopsid) and a small herbivorous archosaur, and here http://whenpigsfly-returns.blogspot.com/2009/03/proactive-dicynodonts.html about a species of aquatic dicynodont that takes the place of manatees and such, the walrodont.

That's WONDERFULL!

I once tryed exactly the same thing, but as I'm no expert I have no idea if my ideas are plausible or not... So I never published them on the web or anywhere else.

I created an alternative mesozoic AND cenozoic timeline and the evolution of Permian animal groups in land, water and air.

Do you know how I can contact them? Maybe I can show them what I wrote and see what they think! Right now it's in Portuguese, but I can translate (or at least I'll try to...)

Cool sites Metalraptor! I'd like to add them to my links on the side here.

If you want to, sure. Zach's blog is http://whenpigsfly-returns.blogspot.com/. Will's is http://thedragonstales.blogspot.com/. I don't know how to get a hold of them via e-mail though.

Thank you, Metalraptor!

erm. Were we summoned? ;)

I don't know. Were you? ;)
Anyway, you're welcome to stay or comment on anything you want.

We summon the almighty Will Baird and Zach Miller! But not really...er, sort of..., I just found your speculative evolution project awesome and wanted more people to know how awesome it was, and tune in on May.

Curious commentors can reach me at sillysaur at gmail dot com. Glad you all like the project...you should see the first big "come-together" on May 1st!

Thaks Zach, Luciano will be happy. Anyway, I saw you put Metazoica's link on your blog. We really need to put your blog on our blogroll. I really like your articles and pictures that you have. Metazoica, if you could put up When Pigs Fly and The Dragon's Tale on our blogroll?

And hey, I tell this to everyone, but you can use any of my pictures for your blog as long as you give me credit and link back to my blog!

'Tis done! Thank you Zach and Will.

Wow, Zach and Will are here!

As I said, I'll send my ideas to you guys, but first I'll have to translate them to English and that will take a while! :)

Also, don't expect too much, I'm just an amateur...

Dee TimmyHutchFan said...

No problem Luciano. Don't worry about being an amateur, we all started off that way. Metalraptor can help you with your project too, he's good. He helped me with my animals, and is working well with a couple other people.

Luciano N. Ribeiro said...

Sure I'd love his help! And yours too if you want! :o)

Yeah, listen to Metalraptor. He's GOOD at this kind of stuff. I should know; he did a lot in the way of helping me with "The Future is Bizarre".

Anyway, this seems like it is a good project. Don't know much in the way of prehistoric life, so can't do much critiquing, but it sounds good.

Metalraptor said...

Ah, I'm not that great. I mean my future project has semi-quadrupedal birds in it, for goodness sake.

Thought Luciano, if you want to become a good speculative biologist, remember this. Never look at something and say "it can't happen", look at it and say "how could it happen".

Luciano N. Ribeiro said...

That's a good advice! I'll try to follow

Anyway, I just finished translating that alternative timeline doc of mine. It's probably full of english mistakes, though. You and Timgal could give me your e-mails and I'll send you to take a look. Hope you like it :)

Dee TimmyHutchFan said...

Sure, you can e-mail me at webmaster@metazoica.com

Metalraptor said...

Metazoica can give you my e-mail. I would rather not put it in the post because I unfortunately found out that this made me a prime target for spambots. Three-hundred e-mails of so-called "quality" Viagra later, I deleted my e-mail from my introductory post so they wouldn't keep bothering me.

Dee TimmyHutchFan said...

Well then I'll give it to Luciano when he e-mails me. Sorry about the spambots harassing you.
